How to manage eBay Best Offers without living in Seller Hub.

Best Offers move fast and expire. Rover surfaces how many offers are waiting on each active listing and the top offer amount, then jumps you to eBay’s Offers tab to accept, decline, or counter.

Why Best Offers need a faster surface

Each Best Offer has a clock, and a slow response loses sales — a buyer who offered on three listings will close on whoever answers first. The default flow buries offers inside Seller Hub, so they are easy to miss.

Rover shows a waiting-offers indicator and the highest current offer right on each listing card, so the listings that need a decision stand out the moment you open the panel.

Response time is the hidden variable in Best Offer selling. An offer typically expires within 48 hours, and serious buyers rarely wait that long — many run the same negotiation on two or three similar listings at once. Answering within a few hours keeps you in the running; answering on day two often means countering an offer the buyer has mentally moved past. Surfacing offers in the side panel simply shrinks the gap between "offer arrived" and "seller noticed".

Accept, decline, or counter on eBay

From a listing card, Rover links straight to eBay’s Offers tab, where accept, decline, and counter live. Keeping the decision on eBay means the offer state never goes stale relative to what you act on, and the counter message field works exactly as eBay intends.

The decision itself gets easier with a rough rule of thumb. Accept when the offer clears the floor you set when you listed the item. Counter when the gap is small — a middle number with a one-line message about condition or included extras closes more deals than a bare figure. Decline only for offers so low that your auto-decline threshold should have caught them — and then go set that threshold.

Set a minimum offer to auto-handle the rest

The most-requested Best Offer setting is the auto-decline threshold: one number that quietly turns away lowballs so you only triage serious offers. Rover links to the listing-edit page where the minimum offer and auto-accept price are set, so you configure it once and stop hand-handling every offer.

Set both numbers and the thresholds handle each end of the range: lowballs disappear without a notification, and offers at or above your real floor close themselves while you are away. What reaches you is the middle band — the offers actually worth a human decision.

Read the demand signals before you decide

An offer amount only means something next to the listing’s demand, and Rover keeps that context on the same card: view counts and watcher counts on each active listing sit right beside the pending-offer indicator. eBay keeps watcher identities private — you see counts, not names — but counts are enough to read the room.

A listing with thirty watchers and steady views supports a confident counter; interest that deep rarely evaporates over a few dollars. A listing with two views in three weeks argues for taking a fair offer while one exists. The same offer amount can point at opposite decisions — the demand signals are what separate them.

Watchers but no sales? Start the negotiation yourself

Some listings collect watchers for weeks without drawing a single offer. Those buyers are interested — they told eBay as much by watching — but nobody wants to open the negotiation. eBay’s answer is letting sellers send offers to interested buyers, at a discount eBay considers meaningful, and it is one of the most direct conversion levers a stalled listing has.

Rover makes the candidates easy to spot: scan the Selling tab for cards with healthy watcher counts and no waiting offers. The card menu’s set/review offers action jumps to the matching eBay page, where you choose the discount and send. Watchers who were waiting for a nudge often only needed a small one.

Make offer triage a daily habit

Rover never accepts, declines, or counters anything itself — every action happens in eBay’s own tools. What it changes is the cost of checking: open the side panel from the toolbar icon, or with Cmd+Shift+E on Mac and Ctrl+Shift+E on Windows and Linux, and every listing with an offer waiting is visible in one scan.

Build that check into moments you already have — first coffee, after lunch, end of day. Pair it with Rover’s desktop notifications for item sold, bid received, and buyer question events, so the rest of your selling day only interrupts you when something actually happened. Chrome needs to be running for alerts to show; with it closed, the panel shows current state the next time you open it.

Common questions

Does Rover let me accept eBay offers directly?

Rover shows pending offers and the top offer amount, then opens eBay’s Offers tab where accept, decline, and counter live. The action happens in eBay’s own flow.

Can I see the highest Best Offer without opening eBay?

Yes. Rover surfaces the top offer amount and a waiting-offers count on each active listing card in the Chrome side panel.

What is a minimum (auto-decline) offer on eBay?

It is a price threshold below which eBay automatically declines offers, so you only review serious ones. Rover links you to the listing-edit page where it is configured.

How long does a buyer’s Best Offer last on eBay?

Typically an offer stays open for 48 hours, or until the listing ends if that comes first — eBay controls the exact terms and they can vary. Practically, treat every pending offer as expiring soon: buyers comparing several listings usually commit to whichever seller responds first.

Does Rover notify me when a new Best Offer arrives?

Rover’s desktop notifications cover item sold, bid received, and buyer question events. Pending offers surface on your active listing cards, with the top amount shown, whenever you open the side panel — so a quick daily open is the reliable way to catch them.
